Boolean Search Techniques
Bing has a large variety of Boolean Search Techniques. We will tell you about the ones that work and the ones that don't. These are the results we got using these search techniques, (-),(+),(*),(&),(or), ("),(link),(not), and (site).
- The minus sign (-) works quite well. It helps you search your exact search and nothing that you do not need. For example you could do dogs -breeds. You wouldn't get the breeds but you will get other information about dogs.
- The plus sign(+) does work. It helps you get results for more than one word. For example if you wanted to find dog breeds you could with the plus sign
- The (*) sign works
- If you type in (&) it does work but not every time. If you type in Dogs & Puppies it would work. It will give you images and information that could be helpful to you.
- You could use quotations(") to help you search for titles of a book and evan famous people. You could also use it for searching something like "dogs". It will get you exact results on dogs alone.
- When you type in site, dogs it will work. it will show you all the sites that have been made about dogs.
- When you try to find the links for a website like this "link:http:www.sullivanheights.com" on Bing it will not work
- If you type in Dogs not puppies it doesn't work
